Reply with quote | #1 | Come on digibits, Below was AWESOME. Truly one of the best submarine ghost movies I've ever seen... Probably only one...
But keep in mind, the film was scarier and more intelligent than a certain other movie, Ghost Ship, which seems to share a plot point or two with Below.
It's great to see Twohy do a low budget horror flick again. It's also great to see Twohy with a beard. __________________ "You're not afraid of the dark are you?" |

If Mr. Twohy reads this, I would LOVE to find out the details of what went on behind the scenes of the release of Below at Dimension. that company has managed to bury quality films like Equilibrium and a few other decent flicks I can't think of right now, but what they did to Below is downright savage. if I wasn't following DT's career, I would have never even heard of the film upon it's release. in the days when horrid trash like The Day After Tomorrow gets humongous press-release, the fate of Below's theatrical run is almost heartbraking. Mr. Twohy, can you comment on this, or is there some sort of a legal gag order? |

Reply with quote | #4 | until i read about it here ,i had no idea this film exsisted ,so i asked a follow movie junkie if she knew of it and she said she had seen it and compared to all davids other work, this film lacked big time and i would be wasting my time tracking it down it as it wasn't worth.so since her taste are simlar to mine i have to take her word for it. |

Reply with quote | #5 | No, you don't have to take anyone's word for anything. While not a Sci-fi film, Below is a horror film of great subtlety and tension. Unlike that piece o' crap Ghost ship which came out around the same time, and due to heavy promotion eclipsed Below in public awareness. My two fav moments: When Winter appears in his bed, and when the diver suddenly illuminates a school of stingrays. This latter scene brought to mind the scene in Pitch Black in which the guy spits out flames and illuminates the creatures, probably my favorite moment in PB visually. __________________ "They who want to read something about this subject will find it in a book, the title of which I've forgotten. Reply with quote | #7 | IFC has been playing BELOW for weeks I finally started to watch it, and got hubby to sit and watch it. WE loved it, but then we were like lets see the entire thing, so we looked and looked and we can't see that it is on again. Damn that just isn't right! |

An early draft of GHOST SHIP has been floating around the internet for a couple years. It's even more similar to BELOW and is a much better script than the final film. If you liked BELOW, check it out. |
